Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers)

We're asked a great deal of questions about Wedding Videos, and so to help you, we've complied a list of the ones we are most frequently asked.

Which areas of the UK do you cover?
We predominantly work in the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire areas, but we do travel - so if your wedding is further away, please still get in touch.  We've covered weddings in Scotland and Ireland before today - and enjoyed every minute!

Are you experienced in the wedding business?
Yes. We've being making wedding videos since 2000, and been in the video production business producing programmes for broadcasters, companies and organisations since 1998.  We know how to make a good wedding video - one you'll want to watch again and again.

Won't the cameramen be obtrusive and disruptive?
We have a policy of being as unobtrusive as possible, and trying as far as we can to get the shots we need without being noticed.  Sometimes, because of the location, we may have to be in a position that is less than ideal, but we will try to avoid that.  The kindest compliment anyone can give us is "We never really noticed you".

Aren't all wedding videos the same?
No - there is a wide variety of styles between one company and other and even between different packages companies offer.   Our wedding packages allow couples to choose which style they would like.  When you're looking at production companies, see if you like the style of the videos they are showing you.  If not, ask whether they ever vary their style.  Also, the best for you may not be the most expensive; on the other hand it may not be the cheapest quote either. The best way to come to a decision is to meet with your production company and discuss what your needs are.

What do the Cameramen wear at the Ceremony?
We always aim to blend in with your guests - therefore jeans and t-shirts are out and trousers, shirts and ties are in.

What equipment do you use?
Without going into model numbers and specifications, we use 3-chip broadcast-quality Digital cameras, and edit on a Digital non-linear computer editing suite.  This enables us to maintain fantastic picture and sound quality - and the DVD is produced straight from the editing suite.

Will my photographer and my production company work together?
Of course.  Generally, photographers and cameramen get along just fine.  They are both working for you on your wedding day, and so we all work together to make the whole wedding perfect.  In our own experience, we have even become close friends with our photographic colleagues, and problems have been very few and far between.

Can you send me a sample video?
We do prefer meeting our prospective clients in person and to show several samples of our work, as this allows us to get to know each other.  However, we are all busy people, and if you can not come to see us, then we would be happy to send out our Wedding Sample DVD - simply e-mail us at weddings@novaonline.co.uk.

How long will the finished DVD be?
At Nova, our aim is to produce a wedding video you'll want to watch time and time again.  The final, edited production varies in length and depends on the type of service and how much fun you have at the reception, but generally we aim at around 1 hour in length.  Your wedding video should be like a really good film - enjoyable to watch not only the first time, but over and over again.
