When the team is dispersed, or there are many people to train, video is a good medium. It's like a real demonstration, where the presenter never gets tired! It also allows the company to deliver a consistent message, particularly important if the results of a training programme are to be measured.
From the trainee's perspective he can set his own pace - pick it up and set it down as he feels most comfortable. Varying degrees of sophistication can be built in to the programme; from a straight run through to an interactive DVD programme.
