From fires to shops closing; new trains to visits, The Nova Film and Videotape Library holds a vast amount of modern social material for a range of purposes.

What does the contemporary video section contain?

Transport

A large part of the library concerns transport - in its' many forms.  Trains, buses, trams and trolleybuses feature predominantly, thanks to the sheer amount of footage we've filmed for our specialist-interest home videos, although cars, planes and bikes are also covered.

This side of the library will grow as our range of sell-through home videos expands.

Famous People

From Princess Anne to Jimmy Saville, from John Prescott to John Major, The Nova Film and Videotape Library contains a range of famous people, most visiting the South Yorkshire area.

The library also contains a number a special recorded interviews with famous people, talking about their lives and careers.

News Events

Our crews are often the first to get to breaking news events, wherever they may happen in the country, and The Nova Film and Videotape Library contains many events, meetings, fires, incidents, visits and other happenings, mostly from Yorkshire and the Midlands.

Places

A dedicated section of the library is devoted to places - locations both in Britain and abroad.  At the tourist locations, all the main sightseeing venues are including, as well as many off-the-beaten-track sights not often filmed.
The rest of this section focuses on more general town and cities in the UK, such as Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield and - seeing as though we're based here - Doncaster.

Nova is currently undertaking a complex programme of logging all material and entering everything in a database - of which we will make available to production companies either via the web or CD-ROM.
